In today’s fast-moving world, it’s easy to build our lives around temporary things. Success, money, popularity, relationships, and achievements can all seem important in the moment. But when life gets difficult, many people discover those things are not strong enough to hold everything together.
Jesus taught something completely different.
In Matthew chapter 7, during the conclusion of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus gives us one of the most important questions we will ever answer:
What are you building your life on?
At Word of Freedom Ministries, we believe this message is more relevant today than ever before. A strong spiritual foundation is not optional. It is essential.
Jesus Warned Us About False Voices
One of the first things Jesus addresses is deception.
We live in a culture filled with opinions, influencers, teachings, and spiritual ideas competing for our attention. Not every voice speaking about truth is actually leading people toward God.
Jesus warned about false prophets who may appear trustworthy outwardly but whose teachings produce harmful fruit spiritually.
This is why believers must stay grounded in Scripture and develop discernment through prayer and studying God’s Word.
It is not enough to simply hear messages online or follow popular voices. We must personally know what the Bible teaches.

Temporary foundations will eventually fail
Jesus compares two builders.
One builder builds his house on sand. The other builds on rock.
At first, both houses may appear strong. But storms eventually reveal what each foundation is built upon.
Many people build their lives on:
- Emotions
- Traditions
- Success
- Relationships
- Personal ambition
- Cultural trends
- Financial security
While these things may seem stable temporarily, they cannot carry the full weight of life’s storms.
Trials eventually come to everyone.
Pain, disappointment, uncertainty, loss, and spiritual battles expose weak foundations quickly.
Without Christ, people often find themselves overwhelmed, anxious, and spiritually empty.
Jesus Is the Only Solid Foundation
Jesus teaches that the wise builder is the one who hears His words and obeys them.
That is the difference.
Not simply hearing truth.
Not simply attending church.
Not simply calling ourselves Christians.
True spiritual stability comes from obedience to Jesus.
When we build our lives on Christ:
- We gain spiritual strength
- We experience peace during difficulties
- We grow in wisdom and discernment
- Our faith becomes anchored
- Our lives begin reflecting God’s purpose
Jesus becomes more than part of our lives. He becomes the foundation of everything.

How to Build Your Life on the Rock
Building on Christ does not happen overnight.
A strong foundation is built daily through intentional spiritual growth.
Here are several practical ways to strengthen your foundation in Jesus:
1. Put Jesus First Daily
Make time for God consistently through prayer, worship, and surrender.
Our relationship with Jesus grows stronger when we prioritize Him above everything else.
2. Study God’s Word
The Bible gives wisdom, correction, encouragement, and direction.
The more we understand Scripture, the easier it becomes to recognize truth and avoid deception.
3. Apply What You Learn
Jesus emphasized obedience.
Hearing God’s Word without applying it leaves us spiritually vulnerable. Growth happens when we live out what God teaches us.
4. Stay Connected to Biblical Community
Strong believers need strong community.
Surrounding yourself with faith-filled people encourages spiritual growth and accountability.
You can stay connected and reach out anytime through our Contact Us page.
Storms Will Come, But You Can Stand Firm
Jesus never promised a storm-free life.
What He promised was stability during the storm.
The difference between standing and collapsing is not whether storms happen. The difference is the foundation underneath your life.
Hold up a minute! This is where everything changes. When your life is built on Jesus, trials may shake you, but they do not have to destroy you.
Christ gives us a foundation that remains strong through every season.
Build Something That Lasts
As we move forward into a new season, now is the time to examine our foundation honestly.
Are we building on temporary things?
Or are we building on Jesus Christ?
Only one foundation lasts forever.
When we build on Christ, we discover lasting peace, purpose, joy, and hope that this world can never take away.
At Word of Freedom Ministries, our heart is to help people grow deeper in faith and build lives anchored in God’s truth.
Let’s continue building something that lasts.
